What Is Process Documentation — and Why It Matters

If you’ve ever thought, “I swear I just explained this…” — process documentation is for you.

It’s not complicated. You’re just writing down the steps of what you do, so you don’t have to keep explaining them, redoing them, or figuring them out from scratch every time.

Stuff like:

  • How to onboard a client
  • How to pay someone
  • How to refund someone who Venmo’d you instead of paying the invoice

It doesn’t have to be pretty. A checklist, a Google Doc, a screen recording — whatever makes sense. The point is: now someone else can follow it, or you can follow it without thinking.

Why it matters? You save time. Things run smoother. You’re not stuck being the one who always knows everything.

Start with one thing you repeat all the time. That’s it.
